A Personal Message From the Heart by Teann Scoggins,
2010 Heart Ball Co-Chair
Unfortunately, everyone knows someone who has been touched by heart disease-it's all very personal to me. My grandfather lost his battle with heart disease at the very young age of only 69. We often think of the elderly when it comes to diseases and issues of the heart, but it's not altogether true.
My husband was only 48 years old when he had to undergo open heart surgery, and I was born with an underlying heart condition that had actually gone undetected until I reached my early twenties.
Truth is, heart disease remains the number one killer of all Americans today--stroke following close behind at number three.
I am pleased to chair the 2010 York Division Heart Ball, and ask you for your support by attending this gala affair on April 10, 2010. Funds raised by events such as the Heart Ball ensure that the important work of the American Heart Association can continue, furthering awareness and providing vital dollars to research new treatments and advances in lifesaving procedures and technology.
I'm sure many of you have your own personal story you would like to share with others. Remember, we all have a heart...please open yours.
Thank you in advance for your support!
