Heart of Lancaster Leadership
In 2024, the American Heart Association celebrated 100 years as a relentless force for longer, healthier lives. As we move into our second century, we recognize our work is more important now than ever before. Our centennial milestone was coupled with our 2024 Impact Goal of ensuring every person has the opportunity for a full, healthy life. Every person means working with every community and that is why our Executive Leadership is so important. The Heart of Lancaster Campaign is a catalyst for this work.
2025 Heart of Lancaster Chair
Melissa May BSN, RN
Nurse Manager for Invasive Cardiology and Interventional Radiology
Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital
I currently serve as the Nurse Manager for Invasive Cardiology and Interventional Radiology at WellSpan Ephrata Hospital. As a nurse leader, I am deeply committed to fostering clear communication, providing strong direction, maintaining organization, and mentoring every member of my team to help everyone thrive.
Over the course of my 25+ year nursing career, I have gained experience in various areas of healthcare, including long-term care, pediatrics, and neonatal care, before finding my passion in invasive cardiology. The combination of technology, innovation, teamwork, and the opportunity to perform life-saving interventions drew me to the cardiac catheterization lab, where I developed a profound passion for cardiac care.
The American Heart Association has been a vital resource in my field, offering essential research, support, and education that directly benefit both professionals and patients. As the Chair of the 2025 American Heart Association Heart Ball for Lancaster, Pa, I am honored to advocate for initiatives that advance heart health and support life-saving research. I am excited to work alongside others who share this mission to create meaningful change in the fight against heart disease and to improve cardiovascular health in our community.
